mamma said there'd be days like this

hello-i was so happy to find this site. i am 54 years old and i am not officially over the one year of no periods but i am at the 6 month mark. it has been a rocky ride for the past ten years of peri-menopause. lack of information being my biggest concern and roadblock. i live in nyc and work my butt off and i have been able to keep my biological symptoms (not the mental ones!) under wraps until now. the hot flashes have arrived and i now sit with a bright red face all a-glow in business meetings. i look forward to hearing from you all on how you deal with this "journey". my gyn told me the exact same thing as my mother did about how to treat a hot flash- stick your face in the freezer of your fridge. my freezer is a slide out on the bottom- so this has not been so easy.
thanks

Dear hotpockets,
Despite all the cautionary stories about HT...when I went on it, my life changed. Although there are camps that are for and against it...for me, the quality of my life is very important and HT has mad all the diffence to me.

Re: mamma said there'd be days like this

Dear Hotpockets,

Depending on how bad your symptoms are you may want to go on synthetic hormones until you can get control of your symptoms by other means. The key is you need to do what is right for you. Stress reduction, eating hormone and pesticide free and watching environmental toxins are all keys to exaggerating menopausal symptoms. If nothing else, be sure you have a great doctor he is telling you all of your options and getting you to do appropriate testing. There are plenty of doctors on 360menopause.com in which you can schedule a phone consult.
www.360menopause.com focuses on women transitioning into menopause. My goal is to assist women in living a vibrant, symptom-free second half of life through education, medical options and community and referral networks.

Re: mamma said there'd be days like this

i had to laugh when i read your post. i am 52 and just reached my one year mark. Cannot say I am totally happy, with the hotflashes I'm thinking I liked the former problems better. Anyway, I was chuckling to myself because that is pretty much all I want to do is live in the freezer!!!!!! I have really not found too much relief from these. I have had them for what seems like forever. But they say there is a new product out that I guess I will try call i-cool. We'll see.
