New in town.

Hi Everyone. My name is Donna and I am new to menopause and new to this forum. I'm hoping to learn from others regarding menopause and staying healthy in mind, body, and spirit.

My menopause was 'surgery induced'. I didn't plan for menopause, and now even 9 months later, I'm still in shock and still sad. And I don't understand anything about it. My doctor immediately put me on HRT, but I don't know if it's good for me.

In 2008, after 2.5 years of unexplained infertility, my doctor found 'borderline ovarian tumors', basically it's a slow growing form of ovarian cancer. The tumors were on my ovaries and my fallopian tubes. It was staged at a 2. 10 days later, the tumors came out. My oncologist let my ovaries stay to give us a year to try to have a baby. ......................Our beautiful miracle baby was born in September of 2009! I was closely monitored throughout my pregnancy and the tumors reared their ugly heads again when I was 7 months or so. I had a C-Section around my due date and my baby was born, and my ovaries and tubes were removed.

Pretty much, that's it! I love my little girl more than anything. My heart is broken though...I would love to give her siblings and I can't.

Re:New in town.

Welcome to our online community Donna! I am one of the contributing editors for the Red Hot Mamas e-newsletter, The Menopause Minute. Our bulletin board format recently changed and I'm sure it's going to take everyone a little getting used to. We hope these boards make it easier to communicate and read posts. Explore, learn, ask questions, share a laugh and help others. A new fresh start is a good thing!
